Q: How do you feel about cardigans as a jacket alternative?
A: While a jacket is an outfit completer, a cardigan does the same function but looks newer and more modern. It also has a professional side when worn over a dress to work and can be easily discarded for an evening out to dinner. It is less expensive than buying a jacket and can provide you with a pop of color. Also, it is a solution to air conditioning that looks newer than a pashmina.
Q: What are some classic ways of dressing that have been around over time that you feel has changed in recent years?
A: Well first, restrictions on wearing white. You no longer see white only worn from Easter to Labor Day, the weather helps indicate when to wear it. For example, if it’s warm in March, get out the white and don’t wait till April. Also, don’t forget there is nothing more popular than winter white. Another example is combining black and brown. The recent popularity of nude/natural footwear looks very sophisticated with black or navy. Lastly, metals can be mixed. Not only can silver and gold be worn together, mixed metals are a trend that has actually been sold together. Usually it looks best in burnt metals.
