So it’s that time of year once again, when we look for the perfect small token to show Mom just how much we appreciate her and all that she does and means to us in our lives. The gift options are a-plenty as Moms are people too and have so many different interests, tastes, and as a Mom I can say, like just about anything their child gives them on this day…..there is no other day that is as much “about the thought” than this designated day for Moms. White On…Fashion’s Hautest Spring Runway Color, The Perfect Non-Color!
Friday, April 20th, 2012 by Roz PactorIn a season that has been a-buzz with Bold Color and Soft Pastels, the time has arrived to step out in the color that dominated the runways back in September…the number one non-color, color for Spring/Summer 2012 that ruled the runways was WHITE. Shown newest, White-on-White. You could also never go wrong wearing it as Black & White or as the crisp neutral against a pop of color! Read the rest of this entry »

Big Apple Buzz…
Thursday, January 12th, 2012 by Roz Pactor
As you may remember, I mentioned that I was making my annual visit to NYC in December and I never make this trip without doing my due diligence before hand on what the Must-See in the Stores are for the season. I did my research and saw it all….Barney’s for Gaga’s Workshop, which was creatively splendid to the eye, but to purchase the logoed merchandise at prices that were so over-the-top for what it was, toys, I had to pass. Swatch looks like it’s making a comeback with a big Fifth Avenue spot; American Girl store was the busiest store I went into (didn’t make it to the Apple Store, which usually holds that title!). Pure purchaseable fashion and excitement for me was a-plenty at the Three B’s…Bloomie’s, Barney’s and Bergdorf’s, did some buying there and would have done more. Meat Packing had many new shops that I had not seen like All Saints and Aurhaus for the home and many old favorites, such as Vince, Tory Burch, Catherine Malandrino, Marni and many others….not enough time! Met my friend Paige Cunningham at Mario Batali’s Eataly (an Italian food-eaters dream!) and then progressed down to SoHo where I hit spots that I had not seen in awhile…..Bloomie’s, Top Shop, H & M, again not enough time but just enough to get my Big Apple Shopping-in-December buzz on. C. Wonder by Chris Burch…..Or Is It?
Thursday, January 12th, 2012 by Roz PactorIn doing my NYC research, I saw the full-page NY Times ads, heard the chatter about Chris Burch’s newest project and particularly since I had just interviewed Tory, my interest was sparked to see what all the “wonder” was about. I did the research, made the visit and I must say, I’m not sure, but that it all felt very familiar, maybe too familiar for me?! Read the rest of this entry »

Tuxedo Dressing….Positive/Negative is One of Many Variations for This Haute Holiday Dressing Trend
Friday, December 9th, 2011 by Roz PactorThe return to prominence of Tuxedo Dressing has been one of those Fall Trends, while popular all season, is very much a NOW look whose time it is to shine. There is nothing with greater style for Holiday parties or New Year’s Eve dressing than to borrow from the boys, the tuxedo with a feminine twist. One of the newest approaches to the look for this season has been the dominance of White as an alternative to the traditional black tux that I have loved for so many seasons. Rachel Zoe, stylist and designer of the Stars has done the same tuxedo (shown above) in both colors. The white has literally been a sell-out, as reported to me by an L.A. shopper and by Tootsies Buyer, Jennifer Cunningham. Read the rest of this entry »

Tory Came to Town and Houston Loved Her!
Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 by Roz PactorWow, what energy was on the second floor of Neiman Marcus last Thursday, when the fashion designer and the beauty + brains behind one of the biggest and fastest growing brands around these days, Tory Burch, came to town. Such a frenzy this lovely lady created…there were her customers, all of Houston’s fashion media and even other local store owners and designers that had to drop by and check it all out for themselves. Accompanied by the very entertaining, Neiman’s own Fashion Director, Ken Downing, I can truly say it was a memorable, fun afternoon! Read the rest of this entry »

Nothing has more glam-appeal as an add-on to your wardrobe than Fur, either real or faux, and the designers have gone for this trend in a big way for this Fall Season! The approach this season is new and is being used either as complete garments or as touches to convert traditional pieces into something fantastical! Read the rest of this entry »

Trend Warning: For Summer’s Fave Playwear for the Feet, Keep it FLAT on the Ground!
Thursday, May 19th, 2011 by Roz Pactor
As summer is approaching, footwear focus needs to be on comfy chic-ness, cool-ness (temp, of course!) and just the right choice for the things you need for running around in to those places where going barefoot just won’t work. Some of my fave suggestions for casual wear is to put the stilettos and super-high wedges down (not away) for a moment of rest and turn to those styles of shoes that will keep you well-grounded. Flat shoes, a look that I love with all of the comfy summer fashions that have already been suggested on TCS….maxi dresses, long skirts, cropped pants and short shorts, skirts and dresses.
These styles that I have chosen to call flatliners…..are flats that come in two ways…..one is in the newest styles of the classic ballet flat and the other, the opened, strappy and in many cases, embellished in a great variety of flat sandals. Read the rest of this entry »

Chic News: Aerin Lauder To Launch Her Own Line
Tuesday, April 5th, 2011 by Roz Pactor
This breaking news, which was first reported by the NY Post, and was picked up by Fashionista and is in this morning’s Women’s Wear Daily (subscription required to read the full article) is a big deal. Aerin Lauder, who is SVP and Creative Director at her family’s company Estée Lauder, and has been thought to be in line for the top job for years, has decided to strike out on her own with a lifestyle brand called Aerin, which will be in stores Spring of 2012. The line will include accessories, home and beauty, and has the backing of Anna Wintour and Jeff Zucker, the former head of NBC. She is already being compared favorably to Tory Burch. Definitely something to watch for…
