Tuesday, September 13th, 2011 by Roz Pactor

Hi everyone, Fashion’s Night Out may have come and gone but there was a lot to chat about and for you to read about as I quizzed many of Houston’s most stylish gals and guys on just what they were looking for from Fall Fashion, 2011.  I blogged as we talked, live (well, sort of a little internet glitch kept it from you,  but I got great info just the same), and most had a lot to say….some very definite opinions on just what they wanted and in some cases who they wanted it from.

One thing was for sure…..everyone was raving about and purchasing from  the new Miu Miu Handbag Shop that was launching that night in Designer Handbags on the First Level.

So read on, please, and listen to what all the fun and excitement of the evening was about, as I chatted about fashion live at Saks Fifth Avenue for Fashion’s Night Out, 2011….. Read the rest of this entry »

One Night That’s All About Fashion…Houston Celebrates Fashion’s Night Out

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011 by Roz Pactor

Glee-sters chosen by Vogue as the "voices" for all FNO P.S.A.'s; Image compliment of www.vogue.com

What is Fashion’s Night Out? It originated three years ago by Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue Magazine as its own “fashion and shopping stimulus package” to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry’s economy during those recessionary days when many customers were avoiding retail stores in an effort to cut back.  Anna’s idea was to celebrate Fashion as a business that brings much joy to all of us, fulfills many of our daily needs, but is most importantly also a major industry in the world that employs a lot of people with many of the same basic needs as its customers. They also needed their fair shake of support or stimulus from those of us that just can’t live without it! Read the rest of this entry »

Gloria Gaynor and the Smiths Get the Pink Crowd Moving at Galleria Salute to Cancer Survivors

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011 by Roz Pactor

I was lucky to be a last minute addition for an exciting happening at the Houston Galleria this past Saturday, as Lester and Sue Smith master-minded in a grand style that only they can make happen!  It was a dance tribute (aka flash mob) of 300 women, 100 of which were breast cancer survivors and their supporters, that converted what started out as just an ordinary Saturday morning of shoppers in front of Macy’s, into a Gloria Gaynor-led  Disco dance-a-thon to her famous rendition of “I Will Survive.Read the rest of this entry »

Ashley Pittman’s African Creations, Style That’s Making a Difference

Thursday, April 15th, 2010 by Roz Pactor

It reads sort of like a modern day fairy tale. A young, bright, determined young woman, with Texas roots (Dallas), leaves her business career that had become a little boring, to head to Africa to reach out and make a difference. Deeply touched by what she encounters, Ashley Pittman sets out to use the skills she acquired, both in law school and in the finance industry, to build a sustainable company that will provide much needed employment and business training to local artisan groups.

The (Style) World According to Gunn!

Thursday, April 1st, 2010 by Roz Pactor

The Style-Guru himself and Project Runway star-maker, Tim Gunn, graced our presence (he is such a polished, dapper gentleman, isn’t he?!) this Saturday at the Houston Galleria. He was in town as part of a roadshow that Liz Claiborne put together taking him to markets to share his style philosophies with the throngs of fans eager to hear his spoken word. He also loves being out and chatting with the real people of the world.

Chic Find……….Three Top Notch Designers Under One Roof

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 by Roz

Chic Find: Three Top Notch Designers under One Roof…….so, if you only think you can find these ladies at Trunk Shows or by appointment, then you’ll be happy to know that things have changed!

Nobility Studio has opened on San Felipe……
2413 San Felipe; Tues., Thurs., Sat., 11 am-4 pm

First, there is the Jewelry Designer, Patricia Peckinpaugh, who has taken her inspiration from her travels and from her many years growing up in Mexico City, to create an exquisite collection of baubles, made from either 18 kt. gold or from her latest discovery of hand-cast Bronze that has been dipped or bathed in gold. This is a technique that Patricia developed to keep prices down and design high…….all are stand-alone metal pieces or have been combined with Pearls and Semi-precious stones, such as the luscious Cuffs featured here of dipped golden Bronze and freshwater pearl flowers. Her collection is far too extensive to describe here, got to stop by and see for yourself and pick a few golden treats that would make Santa proud! An extra good-to-know fact about Patricia’s jewels is that they are featured from time to time on one of my fave fashion websites……Vivre.com and that says alot about her style! also have to visit www.PatriciaPeckinpaugh.com

Second, luxury handbag guruMini Baird is back from her slight siesta from the business…….and her bags have never been more scrumptuous. My favorites were the ruffle bags shown here. Mini’s treatment of luxury exotic skins cannot be outdone and add to that her magnificent taste level and you have a selection of truly beautiful bags. Mini’s collection, Baird & Baird of handbags and accessories for the ladies, with a few giftables for the guys as well, is also a part of this great collaboration of the three ladies that call Nobility Studio home!

Last, but most definitely not least are the surprises upstairs…….Nobility is a collection of apparel that has been co-designed by Patricia Peckinpaugh and Molly Hubbard with the stay-at-home entertaining fashionista in mind. They have designed an easy but elegant collection of silk items that are priced to buy in multiples. A fave of the girls, is this long silk dupioni hostess skirt which they are selling at $275 and blowing out the door in any one of the 12 colors that they offer. The fun thing about this is, you can add a t-shirt and sandals to dress it down for the beach house or dress it up with a cashmere sweater for a holiday party. They offer camis, duster coats, shawls…….very few items, in lots of colors, at great prices to make you want to keep coming back for more!

Chic Happening: Dress for Dinner

Chic Happening……..Dressing for Dinner

How fun it is to have a reason to dress for dinner……a thought that inspired Jeff Shell of the Neal Hamil Modeling Agency and Gracie Cavnar, founder of Recipe for Success to put their creative heads together and collaborate on the first of a series of these events that share two of my personal passions…..fashion and dining. I am thrilled to be one of the founding Host Committee members of this new seasonal concept that kicks off on Thursday, November 19 at Saks Fifth Avenue, from 4-6 p.m., with a preview of the Naem Kahn Spring 2010 Collection.
This celebration of fashion and food through the seasons gives all of us fashion gals out here a reason to get dressed up, visit a little, view alot of beautiful fashions and all for a great cause……100% of the evenings proceeds benefit Recipe for Success.

This is truly a not-to-be missed event at Saks. Hope to see you there, looking fabulous, of course!
