Georges Chakra, born and raised in Beirut, splits his time today between his home city and Paris, where he shows both Couture and his newer Ready-to-Wear collection.
The designer opened Fashion Houston with his Edition Collection for Spring 2013. It included the coming Spring season’s much popular pale, soft color palette of pinks, blues, greens with great neutral pieces in white and of course, my favorite new neutral color these days, Navy, which is a favorite hue that the designer and I share. With all of the new, haute fragrances that hit the market each season, we have a natural tendency to focus on the newest scents on the shelves. However, it must not be forgotten that for many, classics such as Guerlain’s Shalimar has remained one of the best selling perfumes of all times. It’s finally happening! Something that I have begged for for years (I’m sure this is not a unique request from me and that many of you have asked for this as well!?) Mini-sized cosmetics are actually being produced for travel in all of the right sizes to get you through security in a breeze. We’ve all begged our sales person at Neiman’s, Saks, Nordstrom maybe, during heavy travel months for small samples of products that we love, particularly in skin care, where the home jar/bottle is just too big to pack! Sometimes they had them but not always and if your trip was on the lengthy side, those samples, which were designed for an application or two had you begging shamelessly for more.
