How Today’s Trends Can Come Alive in Your Wardrobe…Add Accessories

Thursday, April 25th, 2013 by Roz Pactor

Accessories are my passion and it’s this love for all of these many fashion categories that excites me about each new season. However, putting this all into one blog posting can be challenging and somewhat overwhelming, so for today I will show you many of my favorite picks from most of the accessories that will make styling your outfits for spring/summer such a delight.  However, I must leave shoes to be their own posting as there is so much exciting fashion happening in footwear that they deserve their own story.

Why Do I Love Accessories ? Mainly because there is no quicker, easier and I must add,  budget-friendly way to make your current closet essentials look trend-right for the season, than through the addition of well-chosen accessories.  For example, if there is a color for the season like this Spring’s Orange and Yellow or Shades of Blue and you’re unsure that you want to wear it in your apparel…..a pop of it through accessorizing will make you feel very NOW and in-trend. White is always a fresh approach to the coming months and this year pop it off black and you are wearing the most popular color story of the year!  I could go on and on but the message is a little pop of accessories can go a long way to add style to your wardrobe and a lot can do even more……when in doubt, Accessorize!

The good news is that there are so many great places in this town that specialize in doing accessories well……a bientot, More Than You Can Imagine, Willow, Tootsies, Cotton Club, Neiman Marcus, J.Crew (both in store and online) and many, many more. Read the rest of this entry »

How Can a Night of Snoozy Fashion Continue to Get So Much Attention…Because It’s the Oscars, Fashion’s Big Night!

Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 by Roz Pactor

My favorite dress of the evening, Naomi Watts in Armani Prive pewter beaded one-shoulder creation…not an everybody dress but it definitely worked on her!

Why am I writing even more about an Oscar Night Red Carpet that was less than stellar, particularly since I took part in a web-panel discussion with Clifford at Culture Map that was great fun and I hope you have read, if not, click here.  I guess after so many years it’s just in my DNA that the Oscars create trends, and how can I do what I do without evaluating the take away from that night, however challenging that might be? Fashion’s Night Out Flashback; My First in the Big Apple…

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 by Roz Pactor

This is Roz and I’m back to the living…..Houston Chic Sheet writing that is!  After 10 days in NYC where I attended my first ever Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference (great!), the birth of Lucian, my niece Tina Tyrell and hubby Ethan Pomerance’s bouncing baby boy, who lives in Brooklyn and was the highlight of my trip.(so memorable)  I then partied at my first ever Big Apple Fashion’s Night Out,(fun!), attended shows at NY Fashion Week (amazing) and came home to plan, coordinate and fit 35 models for the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Fashion Show with Macy’s and Jos. A. Bank, Women in the Fast Lane, that just happened today(rewarding).  Wheeewwww, it’s been a lot but I’m back and ready to share so many of my great experiences (I know this is TMI for most of you, but you know I was raised on Italian guilt and if you haven’t heard from me I just have to tell you why?!).

Fashion Sneakers…Much Cooler Styles Than They Used to Be!

For quite a long time now, I’ve felt that sneakers were meant solely for physical activity. Put the sneakers on right before the workout and take them off immediately post-workout. While I do feel that certain sneakers are still just meant for the gym, I now can’t help myself but love so many of the fashion sneakers out there today. Throw them on with a pair of skinny jeans, a stylish tee, some fabulous accessories, and off on my Saturday afternoon errands I go. Put a colorful pair on with a cute little workout outfit, and my workout routine is instantly amped up a notch. Gym sneakers have changed, my friends.

Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 by Roz Pactor

As most Houston ladies in the know are totally aware, if you want to purchase designer digs, especially handbags and shoes, from Chanel, Louis, Gucci or Prada and not break the bank, a trek to Vicki Rizzo’s More Than You Can Imagine fashion resale shop is well worth the visit.  However, what you may not realize is that this tiny haven on Westheimer is also a great gift destination for all of the fabulously stylish men in your life.  She and daughter, Mauri Oliver have also combed the current markets in New York to find great unique gift items for the home and even at times like now, for the guy in your life as well. Everyone that has followed me at all knows I’m not a big print girl.  Occasionally, I’ll get excited about a great collection of Prints, usually novelty, that I become obsessed with!  Not enough to actually wear them usually, but to follow all season long and now, pin on my Pinterest board, just the same.  Last year it was the fruit prints….Prada’s banana prints that everyone from Anna Wintour to the Red Carpet gals took turns wearing or Stella McCartney and her Citrus prints that appeared in what seemed like orchard quantities in the stores of NYC.  Maybe my obsession is really with food, after all I am Italian, because this year I am crazy for the Dolce & Gabbana Veggie Prints straight from their Mama’s kitchens and all about Italy!

They are just fun…delicious fun! There are the Red Pepper and the Red Tomato prints, and the Eggplant, Red Onion and Zucchini prints, all making bold statements that you have to love. These prints  are available in everything from swim suits, sportswear and dresses, to handbags and scarves.  I even think I would wear them….what would be hauter this season than red pepper printed skinny fancy pants….that’s at least three trends in one garment, right?

Fun handbags and scarfs are also available on Net-a-porter.com.  Dolce & Gabbana are definitely doing prints this season especially made for me…..there is also a peonie print (my second favorite flower next to gardenias)  and a fresh take on animal, both available at www.dolcegabbana.com. Check it out to see it all.

If you enjoy these as much as I do, I recommend that you buy yourself A Piece. They are available for purchase at NeimanMarcus.com and in-store, BergdorfGoodman.com and Net-a-Porter.com.

Enjoy my latest obsessions…….
