Joan Pillow, Bridal salon owner, opened her doors for tea last Friday (1/18) for a small group of her clientele and media to see first hand the beautiful selection of Jenny Packham gowns as part of a 3-day Trunk Show, featuring many of the gowns that can be found, in stock, exclusively in Houston at Joan Pillow Bridal in Highland Village.  Special guest for the event was Jenny Packham V.P., Petra Marcus. Needless to say, we were in awe of what we saw….the gowns were exquisite!  The beauty of what we took in as we examined these breathtakingly detailed gowns was their flexibility as either Bridal or Evening Wear. A Perfect Merger…Joan Pillow and Claridge + King Join Hands for Brides’ Evening!

Recently Joan Pillow, proprietor of Joan Pillow Bridal, while fitting soon-to-be bride, Laurann Claridge, features editor of Paper City, in her spectacularly, modern gown from Romona Keveza, came up with a brilliant idea.  Why not come together and service the complete Bride from wedding day to wedding night and the leisure days that follow in her life.  So they had a one-time showing of Vera Wang wedding gowns with a guest appearance by Laurann and her very special menswear-inspired loungewear collection (that should make the groom happy!). Featured in the photo above is Laurann showing her His is Hers Shirt, that can have the sleeve engraved with their wedding date as a constant reminder of that special day! Good Reads as Great Gifts for the Holiday Season!

I have always had a true passion for books! I am happiest in a room with books all around me…on shelves, next to my bed, above tables and under. For this reason I have always loved to give and to receive BOOKS for holiday presents and going to Catherine Anspon’s Texas Artists Today Book signing the other night lit the fire in me to spread the word of all the Great Books that are around. I have been noting online, on TV and by visiting my favorite book stops…one, an old favorite, Brazos Bookstore and secondly a new entry, Curate, Paper City’s Pop-up Books Boutique in Tootsies, Highland Village that was chocked full of awesome design books. All hand-picked from the newest classic designers and vintage first editions from the likes of C.Z. Guest, Gloria Vanderbilt, Billy Baldwin, Tony Duquette and many more.
