Who doesn’t love a new pair of shoes? Judging from the crowds in most shoe departments around town I would say that most of us do. If you’re a regular follower of mine you know that I believe, passionately, that nothing dates your wardrobe more than past-due footwear. That is why I have taken the approach of buying better and more classic in look, but classic with an updated twist is where I love to be. For example, this season, the single sole, pointed-toe pump is one of the top looks…..so try it in yellow or green or as I’ve done, purchase a pair in the newest shiny metallic, silver foil look….love them! How Can a Night of Snoozy Fashion Continue to Get So Much Attention…Because It’s the Oscars, Fashion’s Big Night!
Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 by Roz Pactor
My favorite dress of the evening, Naomi Watts in Armani Prive pewter beaded one-shoulder creation…not an everybody dress but it definitely worked on her!
Why am I writing even more about an Oscar Night Red Carpet that was less than stellar, particularly since I took part in a web-panel discussion with Clifford at Culture Map that was great fun and I hope you have read, if not, click here. I guess after so many years it’s just in my DNA that the Oscars create trends, and how can I do what I do without evaluating the take away from that night, however challenging that might be? Wednesday, September 5th, 2012 by Roz PactorThis Thursday night as you make the rounds of all of the fun and exciting happenings that will be part of the 4th Annual Fashion’s Night Out, you must include Neiman Marcus as a stop-in to see their fashion show featuring dress designer, Catherine Deane. We received a tiny taste of Catherine’s dresses at NM’s trend event, which drove me to her website to see more. The result of my search on this Hong Kong based luxury women’s wear designer…a collection of beautiful feminine dresses, with just the right amount of edge! Read the rest of this entry »

A Toast to Fall Shoe Trends at Saks Salon Happy Hour…
Friday, July 27th, 2012 by Roz PactorAs a fashion blogger, I was treated to a private one-on-one tour with Saks Galleria Shoe Manager, Ted Davis and a little bubbly, as he filled me in on all of the best that Saks will have to offer this Fall, and the selection was divine. Going into it knowing what the shoe trend call-outs were for the season, I must say they had them all and from most of the best names in the designer business. I was there to pick my favorites and to share this preview with my readers. However, I must say, narrowing them down was a challenge and the season is just beginning?! Read the rest of this entry »

Handbag Chic: Make It ALL Fit!
Tuesday, July 17th, 2012 by Roz PactorOne thing is for certain, we are all becoming more tech-savvy these days. I mean who doesn’t have an iPhone/Droid or an iPad that goes with them everywhere? So, the question has become how to be tech-savvy and fashion-savvy at the same time. Well, the Handbag industry is responding. Our handbags have always been expected to be the carrier of our everyday products…from makeup to now, our tech devices. As a quote from Vogue stated, “It’s tech-meets-fashion-first: our reliance on an increasingly indispensable piece of hardware is influencing how designers think about the scale and proportions of an accessory we’re calling the iBag.” in their May 2012 issue. A Treat for the Gals…Where You May NOT Think to Go for Dad’s Day Shopping?
Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 by Roz PactorAs most Houston ladies in the know are totally aware, if you want to purchase designer digs, especially handbags and shoes, from Chanel, Louis, Gucci or Prada and not break the bank, a trek to Vicki Rizzo’s More Than You Can Imagine fashion resale shop is well worth the visit. However, what you may not realize is that this tiny haven on Westheimer is also a great gift destination for all of the fabulously stylish men in your life. She and daughter, Mauri Oliver have also combed the current markets in New York to find great unique gift items for the home and even at times like now, for the guy in your life as well. The Chic Sheet’s Top Ten Favorites on Oscar Night…

Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford White Dress & Cape w/6” diamond cuff from Anna Hu and Jessica Chastain in McQueen Couture and Harry Winston Jewels
From a Fashion-for-the-Awards Show perspective, Oscars usually have it all and are the perfect crescendo to a great Red Carpet season. However, I must say that last Sunday night just was a little lackluster and felt much more subdued for me. The celebs and their gowns that were outstanding, were not in great numbers but were truly that, such as Gwyneth Paltrow in her Tom Ford Dress and Cape, who kept tweeting that she was on her way and that she was in Tom Ford! Not sure if the LA traffic was holding her back but once she arrived, you could see why it would have been everyone’s loss had she and her ensemble been missed on the Red Carpet. Leather Dressing: Fall’s First Choice is OK Any Time of the Year
Friday, October 14th, 2011 by Roz PactorAs soon as the Houston air has that hint of coolness and fragrance of fall, those of us who love fashion are ready to make that first step into the new season. For me, the look du jour that bids summer farewell and ushers in fall is the “touch of leather” dressing.
Leather is no longer the industrial-weight outerwear material that we wore primarily as jackets for so many years. It’s lighter to the touch, so that it is not only adaptable for jackets but can be found in a variety of skirts, dresses, vests, pants and shorts.
While the top color will always be black, this season you will also see bold shades, especially in dresses, as they are the newest and most stylish way to go with leather. Read the rest of this entry »
