When I stopped by Tootsies on my way home for a quick look at a shoe collection that I had heard some good things about, I was immediately taken with the designer, her energy and her great sense of style. Bettye Muller and I immediately clicked when I consistently gravitated to her personal favorites. I loved that she had done a “smoking shoe” for Fall, a loafer-like flat with a gold toe that had that androgynous look of the perfect compliment to the menswear smoking jacket. Another eye-catcher for me was a dress sandal in black with navy polka dots, so understated and so tastefully done. This newest color combo for Fall has been totally embraced by many designers and myself as well! I actually found myself getting excited by the shoes and the designer was such a vivacious personality chocked full of fashion knowledge that I could have stayed and chatted forever. All You Need is a Penny…Classic Penny Loafers are Back in New Ways
Thursday, August 18th, 2011 by Roz PactorAs Back-to-School days are on us, I must admit I’m suffering a little from a case of the blues, as for the first time, I have no one in my household making that trip back to class. However, I can’t help but take notice that there is one trend that has been gaining momentum from the ankle down and not just for BTS-goers. It’s the return of the classic Penny Loafer and gals of all ages have stepped up to follow this new trend in Fall Footwear. Read the rest of this entry »

Tom’s Shoes One for One X 2 for Back-to-School…
Tuesday, July 26th, 2011 by Roz Pactor
Everyone knows about TOMS Shoes, its One for One Project and the wonderful work that its founder, Blake Mycoskie has done matching shoe purchases with new shoes for children in developing countries. These represent the best of both worlds….hip styling and comfort for the customer, while providing much needed shoes for barefoot children around the globe! That’s the good news!
The even better news is that Houston based Sun & Ski Sports will mark the sale of it 50,000th pair of TOMS shoes next month with a two-week Back to School Shoe Drive & TOMS Shoes Custom Paint Event on August 1-14, that benefits the children of Star of Hope. Read the rest of this entry »

Trend Warning: For Summer’s Fave Playwear for the Feet, Keep it FLAT on the Ground!
Thursday, May 19th, 2011 by Roz Pactor
As summer is approaching, footwear focus needs to be on comfy chic-ness, cool-ness (temp, of course!) and just the right choice for the things you need for running around in to those places where going barefoot just won’t work. Some of my fave suggestions for casual wear is to put the stilettos and super-high wedges down (not away) for a moment of rest and turn to those styles of shoes that will keep you well-grounded. Flat shoes, a look that I love with all of the comfy summer fashions that have already been suggested on TCS….maxi dresses, long skirts, cropped pants and short shorts, skirts and dresses.
These styles that I have chosen to call flatliners…..are flats that come in two ways…..one is in the newest styles of the classic ballet flat and the other, the opened, strappy and in many cases, embellished in a great variety of flat sandals. Read the rest of this entry »

Newest in High Fashion Footwear Awaits Those That Care Enough To Recycle
Thursday, April 21st, 2011 by Roz Pactor
Here’s a fun, exciting way to help the environment. Lenny & Cia in Uptown Park and Melissa Footwear, the makers of those fab plastic shoes that many of you have seen on me and inquired about, have partnered for Earth Week. Their idea is simple. If you bring in to their store a pair (or several) gently worn shoes as a donation, you can place your name in a raffle for a new pair of Melissa shoes. If you actually buy a pair of Melissa shoes (irresistible, I warn you…such fashion at affordable prices), they up the ante and you get a secod raffle chance. How easy is that?! Chic Shoe Trend…Shine for All Seasons
Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011 by Roz Pactor
If you are a fashion or celebrity magazine reader, you’ve surely noticed that the hot shoe of the season is the platform pump and once again, the go-with –everything color is NUDE! Dare I say that word? I have been corrected before that the appropriate descriptive for this color is NATURAL…that would be neutral, sand, etc. Call it what you will, it’s refreshing to see that it’s now fashion-ably acceptable to wear this light color patent leather shoe with a dark colored dress. L.B.D.’s with natural colored shoes definitely can make the outfit look and feel fresh! Read the rest of this entry »

Designer Plastic-Wear…for your footsies
Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 by Roz Pactor
Making the right ecological choices is at the heart of what the modern woman is about today. SUSTAINABLE FASHION is the buzz word of the time for all categories of fashion. In footwear, the Brazilian shoe manufacturer, Melissa, has taken a unique approach and I’ve already become a loyal purchaser. First at Muse this Spring (metallic cut out flats I wore every day) and now at Lenny & Cia at Uptown Park, where the assortment is awesome. I couldn’t resist a Vivienne Westwood grey sling-back heeled shoe with over-sized gold balls, a true conversation piece whenever I wear them! Read the rest of this entry »
