Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford White Dress & Cape w/6” diamond cuff from Anna Hu and Jessica Chastain in McQueen Couture and Harry Winston Jewels

From a Fashion-for-the-Awards Show perspective, Oscars usually have it all and are the perfect crescendo to a great Red Carpet season.  However, I must say that last Sunday night just was a little lackluster and felt much more subdued for me.  The celebs and their gowns that were outstanding, were not in great numbers but were truly that, such as Gwyneth Paltrow in her Tom Ford Dress and Cape, who kept tweeting that she was on her way and that she was in Tom Ford!  Not sure if the LA traffic was holding her back but once she arrived, you could see why it would have been everyone’s loss had she and her ensemble been missed on the Red Carpet. Last season was all about the pant. Wide legs were back, skinny ones were still going to hang around. Pants were making a comeback.  They did this, they had their season of glory and Houston women warmed up to the idea. Read the rest of this entry »

If you are ready to take a breather from all of the Fall/Holiday clearance that we have been entrenched in for the last several weeks and like, myself, can finally take some time away from those red-line tickets, then treat yourself to visit the Prada stores that opened their doors in Level I of the Galleria, only moments before Babbo Natale (Italian for Santa Claus) came to visit our homes. Kate Middleton wearing the Wedding Dress of the Year designed by Sara Burton of Alexander McQueen

Fashion had a good year in 2011, with lots of new emerging designers, plenty of newsy stories and many beautiful collections that I felt a great connection to.
