Attention fellas: This is a story of the two brothers Tardieu, originally from Haiti.  One, Fabrice, worked for many years for Emporio Armani accessories and the other, Patrick, was the Captain of the Haitian National Soccer Team, an avid player who was not that interested in fashion.  These two men that had traveled the globe and studied in Europe had developed quite definite ideas of how men should dress.  They joined forces eight years ago when Patrick could never be pleased with any of the dress shirts that he was given to select from and decided to create the perfect one and solicited his experienced fashion bro. to assist. Fashion’s Night Out Flashback; My First in the Big Apple…

This is Roz and I’m back to the living…..Houston Chic Sheet writing that is!  After 10 days in NYC where I attended my first ever Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference (great!), the birth of Lucian, my niece Tina Tyrell and hubby Ethan Pomerance’s bouncing baby boy, who lives in Brooklyn and was the highlight of my trip.(so memorable)  I then partied at my first ever Big Apple Fashion’s Night Out,(fun!), attended shows at NY Fashion Week (amazing) and came home to plan, coordinate and fit 35 models for the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Fashion Show with Macy’s and Jos. A. Bank, Women in the Fast Lane, that just happened today(rewarding).  Wheeewwww, it’s been a lot but I’m back and ready to share so many of my great experiences (I know this is TMI for most of you, but you know I was raised on Italian guilt and if you haven’t heard from me I just have to tell you why?!).

The Chic Sheet’s Top Ten Favorites on Oscar Night…

From a Fashion-for-the-Awards Show perspective, Oscars usually have it all and are the perfect crescendo to a great Red Carpet season.  However, I must say that last Sunday night just was a little lackluster and felt much more subdued for me.  The celebs and their gowns that were outstanding, were not in great numbers but were truly that, such as Gwyneth Paltrow in her Tom Ford Dress and Cape, who kept tweeting that she was on her way and that she was in Tom Ford!  Not sure if the LA traffic was holding her back but once she arrived, you could see why it would have been everyone’s loss had she and her ensemble been missed on the Red Carpet. Trend Alert: Fur-Ever in Fashion!

Another cool front is due to arrive in Texas tonight and the timing is just right to talk to one of Fashion’s biggest trends for Fall.  Nothing has more glam-appeal as an add-on to your wardrobe than Fur, either real or faux, and the designers have gone for this trend in a big way for this Fall Season!  The approach this season is new and is being used either as complete garments or as touches to convert traditional pieces into something fantastical! Wrist-action, It’s Color Time!

Gone are the days when watches were just for telling time…after all we now have our iPhones, Blackberrys, tablets…many much hipper and more stylish choices, to tell us  exactly what time it is.  It was precisely for that reason, that the watch business had it’s own recession a few years back. The cool people, were not wearing watches and if they did they were not those same metal or leather strap watches that their parents had worn.  The shout out to the watch designers of the world was simple that Fashion  was needed in watches.  They responded, and a new fashion accessory was born out of function!

First, faces got larger and more interesting, shapes, though mostly round were not limited. There were rectangles, squares and even triangles popping up. Metal overtook leather straps and  color in metals became an option, as did other materials such as rubber, ceramics, resin, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

Memorial Day is here…hard to believe I know! (was it really 96 today?) Summer is here, school is almost over and the time is upon us to head for the beach, pool, or whatever chillin’ route we wish to take.
