Why I Love The Color Red…Not Just Festive but also Fashionably Chic!

Friday, December 16th, 2011 by Roz

So, RED is a color that has become quite a signature of mine that has stemmed from the spectacles that I have worn for so many years. However, what is so exciting to me, particularly this time of year, is to see how much this color means to others.  As I sit here in NYC and walk the streets and see windows and buildings totally splashed with RED, or go to the Carlyle at night and see the number of women who are either wearing RED or using it in some way to pop their outfits and their spirits, I share in the feeling of joy that the color RED brings to people. Everyone loves to receive that Tiffany Blue Box for the Holiday or anytime. This year that box could be filled with something new from America’s premier jeweler. Tiffany’s has proven to all of us that it is America’s Jewelry store, but it has now expanded it’s offerings to include an elegant and high-styled handbag and accessories collection introduced last year in a handful of select stores and to the Houston market this past week through a personal appearance in the Galleria store of their popular Design Directors themselves. Holiday Whites…the Many Shades of Snow, a Chic Trend for Holiday/Resort Dressing

So you may ask if I have my seasons mixed up? On a day when Texas weather is feeling a little more like summer, do I dare talk about the color of snow?!  Well, I’ve always been a fan of White and now that the “never wear white after Labor Day” taboo has been lifted, it must be noted that one of the hottest (no pun intended) ideas from the Holiday/Resort Runways, arriving in stores now, was the presence of White as the non-color, color choice as a chic approach to holiday dressing. In fact, my memory takes me back to a visit here by Michael Kors (one of my faves, whose chic style is always so apparent) and when he dressed to accompany me to interviews, wore white pants and a black cashmere turtleneck sweater, in late October, specifically to make this point.  It was a few years ago, he was ahead of his time and in fact, his outfit was a point of discussion with all of his interviewers!!! Another cool front is due to arrive in Texas tonight and the timing is just right to talk to one of Fashion’s biggest trends for Fall.  Nothing has more glam-appeal as an add-on to your wardrobe than Fur, either real or faux, and the designers have gone for this trend in a big way for this Fall Season!  The approach this season is new and is being used either as complete garments or as touches to convert traditional pieces into something fantastical! Famous Visitors Keep Coming Back for More from Our Girls at Cheeky Vintage

Thursday, October 20th, 2011 by Roz Pactor

It looks like our stylishly chic vintage gals are putting Houston on the map again.  Tina Davis and Denise Hazen, proprietors of 4 year old Cheeky Vintage, are telling me that once again, the Tommy Hilfiger team was in their store last week and this time bought over 100 pieces for sale in their 5th Avenue, Paris and London stores.  Of course, since I spent much of my former life with every division of Tommy (retail trivia: Foley’s McAllen store was second only to Macy’s Herald Square in the amount of T.H. sold!). I was quite interested to know what fashion goodies sparked the Tommy peeps’ interest.  Tina says, “her selection included preppy plaids as well as holiday pieces in navy, dark green and burgundy color families.” They also could not resist purchasing large collections of chunky gold, a big trend for the season.  “American chic vibe that will merchandise with Tommy’s current collection is what they were after,” says Davis. Chic New Accessory…Two in One?

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011 by Roz Pactor

The first time I met Lori, the necklace scarf gal, she was the winner and I became the loser because it was at the Go Red Luncheon for Heart.  I was busy that day, but noticed several of my friends walking around with these great looking long scarves that had various different styles of silver and/or jewels at the neck.  They were all different and great looking, that’s the good news (that obviously a lot of them were being sold and Heart was making money!). The bad news for me was that by the time I made it over to her booth, it was a wipe-out! I wanted one and couldn’t have one because all of the colors that I could use were gone and no more coming in until Fall! Read the rest of this entry »
