“V is for Victory”

Friday, July 13th, 2012 by Roz Pactor

Hi Chic Sheet Readers! It’s your Chic Sheet Beauty Contributor, Trish, here with some add-on info to the Travel Tips from our last posting that all of you chic fashion gal travelers need to know about.  We’ve all been there…getting ready for a fabulous trip and decide we will try to get by via fitting everything in our carry-on suitcase.  You know the rules but think maybe you can make it through security. That’s when it happens – you’re caught!  Your beloved toiletries are too big and TSA confiscates them.  All that money down the drain and now you have to replace them or do without. Oh the horror!!  But never again, thanks to Vogue’s “It Girl” Julie Macklowe, CEO and Founder of vbeauté and the award winning It Kit. Read the rest of this entry »

Big Apple Buzz…

Thursday, January 12th, 2012 by Roz Pactor

As you may remember, I mentioned that I was making  my annual visit to NYC in December and I never make this trip without doing my due diligence before hand on what the Must-See in the Stores are for the season.  I did my research and saw it  all….Barney’s for Gaga’s Workshop, which was creatively splendid to the eye, but to purchase the logoed merchandise at prices that were so over-the-top for what it was, toys, I had to pass.  Swatch looks like it’s making a comeback with a big Fifth Avenue spot; American Girl store was the busiest store I went into (didn’t make it to the Apple Store, which usually holds that title!).  Pure purchaseable fashion and excitement for me was a-plenty at the Three B’s…Bloomie’s, Barney’s and Bergdorf’s, did some buying there and would have done more.  Meat Packing had many new shops that I had not seen like All Saints and Aurhaus for the home and many old favorites, such as Vince, Tory Burch, Catherine Malandrino, Marni and many others….not enough time!  Met my friend Paige Cunningham at Mario Batali’s Eataly (an Italian food-eaters dream!) and then progressed down to SoHo where I hit spots that I had not seen in awhile…..Bloomie’s, Top Shop, H & M, again not enough time but just enough to get my Big Apple Shopping-in-December buzz on. Big Apple Bound…

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 by Roz Pactor

Tomorrow I’m heading to the Big Apple. Visiting New York City at this time of year is one of my favorite things to do.  The City in December is purely magical.  I feel the energy of that magic as soon as I cross the Triboro Bridge.  There’s nothing quite like it. It’s truly one of the greatest cities in the world and it’s at its best this month. Read the rest of this entry »

Fashionable Packables #2…Beauty’s Minis are Making a Splash for Summer Travel!

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011 by Roz Pactor

Hair and makeup products available at Sephora

It’s finally happening! Something that I have begged for for years (I’m sure this is not a unique request from me and that many of you have asked for this as well!?)  Mini-sized cosmetics are actually being produced for travel in all of the right sizes to get you through security in a breeze.  We’ve all begged our sales person at Neiman’s, Saks, Nordstrom maybe, during heavy travel months for small samples of products that we love, particularly in skin care, where the home jar/bottle is just too big to pack!  Sometimes they had them but not always and if your trip was on the lengthy side, those samples, which were designed for an application or two had you begging shamelessly for more. That is no longer the case…mini-sized cosmetics have arrived! Read the rest of this entry »

The Newest Trend in Luggage… High on Tech, Light in Weight

Thursday, June 16th, 2011 by Roz Pactor

Tumi Vapor International Carry On

High-tech luggage first came on the scene from one German maker, Rimowa, as reported by The Chic Sheet on 11/1/10, and has now become a huge fashion trend in the luggage industry. It sets the standard for strength, durability, mobility and aesthetics. Truly a must have, ideal for those who travel internationally or domestically.

This luggage, made out of ABS/polycarbonate, which makes it very durable, yet lightweight and very easy to maneuver. Partner that with an ultra modern style that defies definition… a must-have for the jet set!

A true stand out is the four multi- directional spinner wheels, most suitcases only have 2, which mimic your movements. The 360° “spinner technology” isn’t just good for your impatient travel companions, its also good for your body because now you don’t have to put any weight on your arm. Four wheels = zero effort!

A lot of these bags can expand for those of you who are heavy packers. The interior is fully lined with elastic cross straps and divider panels, great for the organized traveler! The cross straps also prevent content shifting during travel and keeps the contents in place.

J.K. Place, A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Florence

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 by Roz Pactor

It’s mid-January and you have bought just about every sale item that you must have and are ready to move on into the New Year.  It is not too early to think about a Spring or Summer escape abroad, and of course I highly recommend Italy. When we were in Florence in November, I took one step inside the entry of J.K., and immediately said, “I could live here” Read the rest of this entry »

Arrividerci Florence, but not forever…

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 by Roz Pactor

How do I start writing about a city that I have had a love affair with since my first visit there 25 years ago? Maybe I start by saying that the deep affection I have felt for Florence, Italy and the surrounding Tuscan country sides is still burning, after spending 11 days there.

Why was this trip so special……many reasons, I think! So if you want to hear about it all, pour yourself an espresso or caffe Americano and get ready. I have so much to say about my trip there that editing was my biggest challenge. Hence, for this week, Part I is only about shopping, fashion and style in Florence, with more to come next week on restaurants, hotels, Tuscan towns you must see and other entries for your travel journals.

I’m Off to Florence…What Will I Choose?

Thursday, October 28th, 2010 by Roz Pactor

FlorenceWill I really have ALL of these choices and what will I do? Will it be Armani, Gucci or Prada, and will I pay full price on Via Tornabuoni or head to the outlets (which I hear are divino!). For jewelry, must have a bauble from my favorite, Angela Caputti? Or will I find so many jewelers that I’ll have a trinket-breakdown?  Then there’s the Straw Market for fun giftables to bring home.  Must stop there and cannot leave without a photo op of Alan enjoying one good bartering session?! New Orleans Follow-Up

Thursday, July 1st, 2010 by Roz Pactor

That’s me in BLACK at Cafe du Monde, what was I thinking???

I don’t know when I have been more excited about a return trip to one of my favorite places, than I was about our last week’s excursion to New Orleans. The funny thing about my adventure is that this nostalgic trip BACK for me to the Big Easy, showed me a city that could not be moving more FORWARD than what I saw going on in NOLA.
