Milly’s Michelle Smith Brings her Fall Collection to Neiman Marcus and Takes Time To Sit and Chat with The Chic Sheet…..

Well, I had no idea that I was walking into such a fun party when I went to Neiman’s to meet and chat with Michelle Smith, founder and head designer for the very popular women’s line, MillyDress for Success was the host and what a crowd they brought to sip on pink cotton candy champagne, a fun treat in itself.  Amidst all the partying, they took in the informal modeling and shopped Milly’s beautifully modern collection of  her dresses at Neiman’s with some of her sportswear, as well.

I loved hearing from Milly about her amazing background, which began at F.I.T., and then on to Europe where she worked for Hermes. She then decided to live in Paris for awhile and interned at Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior Haute Couture.  Having been inspired by her experiences in growing up in Connecticut, living in Paris and New York, she began her own collection and established her label in 2000.

All of her product is manufactured in America (except for her knits, which must be made in China).  She sees her signature look to be that of creating smart, sexy, feminine apparel for strong women that will be taken even more seriously when wearing her clothes.

I have chosen only a few of her many styles to show you here but suggest that you check out her website, www.millyny.com or drop by Neiman Marcus’ Galleria Dresses and see more.  She does an amazing job with textures like lace, pebbled leather insets, aspirin dot sheers combined with satin or lace.  You will also find color mixing of black with shocking pink, black lace over emerald green or a favorite, the aspirin dot sheer with bright purple bodice.

Milly’s collection has something for every woman who prides herself in looking stylish and sophisticated.  If visiting NYC, drop in to her flagship store on Madison and 73rd St., where you will see everything Milly, all in one place.

Here are some highlights of her informal showing…..
